Bits Pilani was established an assumed university under section 3 of the UGC ACT, 1956 by notification no. F.12-23/63.U-2 of 18 June 1964.
In 1964 the Birla Colleges of Humanities, Commerce, Gineering, Pharmacy and Scice were merged to form the Birla Institute of Technology & Scice. The board gave direction to developing a curriculum, selecting Equipmt, upgrading the library and recruiting (and training) of an Indian faculty.
