Today the video game industry has become the world’s largest entertainment industry. According to a poll published by newzoo.com (access October 8, 2020) [1], the world market games are estimated to have a $ 152.1 billion revenue in 2019, which exceeds the profits received by the film and music Industry. Video game media once were secondary media, and with increasing interest in game engines and game editing software gradually became the main ones. Video games are considered to be a legal form of art in the 21st Century Studies [2, 3]. Types of art in contemporary games can be divided into realism and styling. Realism refers to an attempt to imitate the true visual consequences of the real world, and scenes and characters come to life. Stylization [4] emphasizes the use of unrealistic artistic images to distinguish the world and characters in the game from the characters in real life. Real and stylized graphics are diversified due to changes in the advantages of gamers and technological developments, and the differences between two technologies are becoming thinner. However, gamers can distinguish games with realistic graphics of the real world. To make visual effects that match the topic of the game, game designers tend to make videos, colors and atmosphere darker, brighter and more dramatic in video games. It gives gamers the perfect atmosphere or conveys a message to the designer games, creating what they call a “gaming feeling”. The above discussion shows that the difference between realistic and stylized games is blurred.
The term “next generation” emerged from the competition among the consoles of video games in the 1990s [5], and the term “generate” is a concept of contribution in video games [6]. According to the historical development of video games [7], video game consoles entered the ninth generation, while PC -games are taking simultaneous or advanced technologies. In the video game industry, the visual art design, implemented using the latest technology, is called Art Next Generation Art (NGA). NGA can be seen as the highest landmark for current game art and landscape design. With the development of various video games and equipment platforms, video games became varied, and gamers raised the bar for a visual presentation. NGA allows games to represent a very real world that meets the needs of gamers. In the technology of creating realistic facilities in gaming scenes, based on physics rendering (PBR) [8, 9] is currently the main method used in three -dimensional (3D) animation software and game engines. In the course of NGA, developed in this study, professional software artists were used to guide students how to perform PBR texture. Originally developed by the French vocabulary of the company, and later acquired Adobe, an artist of addiction is a tool for displaying materials and texture and became a standard PBR development tool in gaming and animated fields. The NGA course is designed to instruct students to use addicts to display PBR. Learning to apply NGA production method is an important skill for digital media students who intend to move to the gaming industry. This course is designed for fourth-year college students who are already familiar with 3D animation software, digital engraving and playing engines and are in the last stages of the final project. The purpose of this study is to increase students’ interest in studying specific software and strengthen their motivation to consistently use it through work examples in conjunction with a hybrid training course design.
