National Technology Day 2022: One of India has seen great growth and development after independence is science and technology. With a varied increase in the sector, India has climbed its way up in the list of countries that are senior possible future powers to come. India is celebrating National Technology Day on May 11, as it was on this day in 1998, the country successfully performed the famous Pokhran -Nclear tests.
National Technology Day 2024: Date, History, And Significance
One of the most determined milestones in the Indian timeline in scientific and technological progress is the successful nuclear tests performed in 1998 in the Pokhran region in Rajasthan. The then Prime Minister of India, the suspension of Vihari Bajpai, led the mission to make India an independent nuclear energy. Known as Pokhran-II, the nuclear tests were performed on 11 May 1998.
There was a dedicated team of scientists, researchers and engineers who had to work on the mission with other nuclear forces who reject India’s entry. The mission was a secret because India did not want to attract international attention and criticism.
The nuclear tests in Pokhran were performed on the Pokhran Indian Army test range. A series of five explosions were performed to do a successful test. India’s “Missile Man”, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the main star of the Pokhran tests.
After completing the successful test, the then Prime Minister declared a Bihari Vajpayee suspension of India India nuclear state. The mission came from the operation of Codenaam Shakti and was hidden because the other five current members of the “nuclear club” opposed its distribution.

The success of the mission is considered a very large milestone in the Indian tour, because the technology used in the country was not more than two decades ago fully equipped to undertake the mission. In the circumstances it was during Pokhran nuclear testing, the success had set the bar very high.
